Jane Barrow received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA, with distinction, from Indiana University. A painter and mixed media artist, she recently retired after 25 years of being head of the painting area at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville,
Her work has been featured in major solo and invitational venues, and she has received awards in national exhibitions juried by artists Jack Beal, Faith Ringgold, and Lennart Anderson,among others. Highlights over the past ten years include a solo exhibition in Taipei, Taiwan (2005) and in Miami, Florida (2004). Barrow was represented by Duane Reed Gallery for many years, showing her work in both St Louis and Chicago venues. Her work is also in the permanent collections of John Mellencamp,the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary, the Ameren Corporation, Private Bank, and other corporate and private collections.
Ms. Barrow has been a repeat resident at the Vermont Studio Center and has guest-lectured at universities including University of Dayton in Ohio, Lunghwa University of Science and Technology in Taipei, Taiwan; the Sam Fox School of Art and Architecture,Morehead University in Morehead, KY and University of Missouri in Columbia, MOas well as various community art organizations. She has numerous artworks published in Painting-Design, a Chinese-language studio art textbook sold throughout Taiwan. She lives in St.Louis and works at the historic Lemp Brewery where she has maintained a studio for many years.
